Stan Bicknell

Currently residing in Melbourne, New Zealand-born Stan Bicknell’s career began via touring both locally and internationally with one of NZ’s biggest pop/rock bands, ‘48May’.

Now on his 12th year here, his time in Melbourne has seen him touring and recording with artists such as: Kimbra, Miami Horror, Ecca Vandal and his own band The New Caledonia.

 During his time with Kimbra, Stan played on her acclaimed debut album 'Vows'. His Motown grooves can be heard on the track ‘Cameo Lover’ which won both an ARIA and APRA award in 2011 as well as playing on her now iconic 'Sing Sing' sessions on YouTube, clocking up millions of views.

 Since 2012, Stan has been running Australia's largest drum shedding community 'Drummers Summit Melbourne', a place where some of the country’s top players come to ‘shed’ ideas and show their stuff.

 Stan refers to himself as a ‘Modern Drummer’, in every sense: believing you must wear many hats to succeed. He likes to influence and inspire by filming drum videos for his subscribers whilst constantly working on his playing and pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved on and off the kit.

 He’s currently working towards his first appearance on the acclaimed online drum education website Drumeo, happening in Canada in October.

 Stan will perform a unique workshop at 10:45am on Saturday 25^th August. He will break down his playing, views on creativity and share with the audience some valuable insights on how to be a successful Modern Drummer in this day in age.
