Lozz Benson

Lozz Benson has been playing in the Sydney music scene for the last 10 years.

 After completing school, Lozz studied Jazz at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and learnt from some of Sydney’s most respected drummers including Dave Goodman, Simon Barker, Joe Accaria and Andrew Dickeson.

 When Lozz is not performing, she is a passionate teacher and works in schools teaching drums, voice, piano and guitar. Lozz works as a session musician and has played with Missy Higgins, Tonight Alive, Fanny Lumsden, Urthboy, Rackett, Hedgefund and Sirens Big Band. She has also recorded original music with Paul Kelly, Jim Moginie (Midnight Oil), Steve Smyth, All Our Exes Live in Texas, Jeremy Davidson (The Snowdroppers), Sandy Evans, Chris D’Rozario (Brian Setzer) and Zoe Hauptmann. Lozz has previously toured with a number of acts varying in different genres including Slim Jim Phantom (The Stray Cats), The Darkness, The Delta Riggs, Scotch & Soda (Company 2) and has appeared at festivals such as Bluesfest, Woodford Folk Festival and Sydney Festival.

 Lozz was also awarded first prize in ‘Australia’s Best Female Drummer’ competition in 2016. Currently Lozz fronts her own Rockabilly/Blues trio ‘That Red Head’ and is on tour with The John Butler Trio for the rest of the year.

 Lozz will make her debut performance at this year’s AUDW at 1:30pm on Sunday 26^th August
