ANDY GANDER

Andy Gander is an Australian drummer with a live and studio background that covers various musical styles, particularly jazz, Latin, rock and funk. He has performed in a wide range of settings all over the world with many great Australian and international artists including Ernie Watts, Larry Coryell, Harry Connick, Jim McNeely, Jim Pugh, Joe Pass, John McLaughlin, Johnny Griffin, Kenny Kirkland, Kenny Wheeler, Bobby Shew, Mark Murphy, Michael Brecker, Ray Brown, Joe Chindamo, Dale Barlow, James Muller, Steve McKenna, Carl Orr, Daryl Pratt, Paul Grabowsky, Steve Hunter, Vince Jones and many others. He is interested in polyrhythms and their application to the drums in jazz and contemporary groove-based music.

 Based in Hong Kong, he is an enthusiastic endorsee of Sakae drums and enjoys touring, practising, teaching, gigging and posting internet videos of things that interest him rhythmically.

 A devoted student, Andy is also an accomplished educator/clinician who has recently incorporated his own musical studies and gigging experience with formalised academic research.

 Having performed at AUDW in 2003, Andy returns this year for a highly anticipated concert performance on Saturday 25^th at 2:20pm and in workshop at 10:00am on Sunday 26^th August.
